What is the campaigning about?
We are a family actively racing against time to get as many people tested as possible. It is a free 3-minute cheek swab test if you are aged between 16 and 55. If you are a match for the boys, the process for the donor is similar to that of donating blood, it is not a surgical procedure. We have many volunteers who have been instrumental in securing events, attending the drives, networking, etc. We have created a small community to drive this initiative to give Abu-Taalib and Ayyub a chance to live.
How can people get involved and help?
We need people and businesses to open the doors of their homes and businesses for us in the Western Cape so we can set up a table, inform people of our plight, and get people tested. To date we have been hosted at gala dinners, high teas, local shops and are looking forward to more opportunities. We do not partake in, interfere or take over your event, we simply need a spot in the entrance area to create awareness and gather swabs. All high schools and tertiary institutes are also encouraged to get their learners, educators and parents informed and tested. There is also an option to register online to become a donor with SANBR or DKMS where swab kits will be delivered to your home by DKMS or SAMBR.
